Earth reflects sunlight back to space where spacecraft like Aqua MODIS "see" the reflections that help us understand what's in the water, on land, and in the air. This Adriatic Sea and western Mediterranean view was collected on Feb. 2, 2022.
The Mediterranean Sea is connected to the Atlantic Ocean and almost completely enclosed by land. The Adriatic Sea is the northernmost arm of the Mediterranean, separating the Italian Peninsula from the Balkan Peninsula.
