Still Going After 22 Years
NASA's Terra-MODIS is still collecting Earth imagery more than 22 years after it first started. It collected this view of the southern Mississippi River watershed and the northern Gulf of Mexico on April 9, 2022.

The extent of the Mississippi watershed reaches 32 US states and two Canadian provinces. The Mississippi delivers sediment-laden and nutrient-rich river into the Gulf of Mexico. This leads to a large plume with brown and green colors, the latter indicating the presence of chlorophyll within phytoplankton.
