Dinophysis
What's my story?

With a dimpled surface covered by pores, these solitary swimmers sport mohawk-like adornments. Some Dinophysis cells are transparent... until they steal pigments from other organisms. How? By eating them! Cells can be yellow to brown with occasional pink, red, or bluish patches. Some species produce toxins that lead to Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning in humans with symptoms such as headache, chills, nausea, vomiting, and (of course) diarrhea. In other words, Dinophysis can leave you feeling pore-ly ;)
