Southeastern Alaska

Off the coast of southeast Alaska, sometimes called the Alaska panhandle, chlorphyll-rich eddies and swirls appear in a break in the clouds. This region is home to the Tongass National Forest, largest in the United States. This image was taken by the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI) sensor aboard the PACE satellite on May 3, 2024.
