Spring Bloom in the Gulf of Maine

Bounded by the United States and Canada, the Gulf of Maine is seen in the center of this image. Georges Bank, a relatively shallow area known for its productive fishing grounds, is located east of the iconic hook-shaped Cape Cod. This image was taken by the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI) sensor aboard the PACE satellite on April 8, 2024.
