[08-Aug-18] Dr. Emmanuel Boss (UMaine) readies an Underwater Vision Profiler (UVP), which will be used by scientists from UMaine and UA Fairbanks to collect water samples during the field campaign. The UVP is designed to study and quantify large (>100 µm) particles. The UVP system makes use of computerized optical technology with custom lighting to get digital images of zooplankton in situ. It can be used down to depths of 6000 meters (19,685 ft) below the surface.
