[09-Aug-18] EXPORTS scientists prepare an Imaging Flow Cytobot (IFC) for operation on board the R/V
Sally Ride. Initially developed for medical applications, the IFC is utilized in oceanographic studies to count and identify phytoplankton. In addition to capturing images of each individual plankton cell that passes through the instrument, the samples are also tested for their optical properties, helping to identify the species.
