[22-Aug-18] To investigate how carbon is exported to the deep ocean, traps are deployed to catch falling marine snow for analysis. During the EXPORTS cruise, sediment traps were deployed in the Twilight Zone to gather information about what particles were sinking. This image shows the open tops of Neutral-buoyancy Sediment Traps (NBSTs) through which marine snow drifts for collection.
