[23-Apr-24] Half of Canada's ten provinces adjoin the Gulf of St. Lawrence, which connects the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean via the St. Lawrence River. Green swirls and filaments reveal high primary productivity in this Gulf and the Gulf of Maine to its south. The prominent circular feature on land, sometimes called the "eye of Quebec," is the Manicouagan Reservoir. Classified as an "annular lake," it was formed by a meteorite impact over 200 million years ago during the Late Triassic period.
