Yellow Sea
[05-Apr-24] Situated between eastern China and the Korean Peninsula, the Yellow Sea is named for the golden-yellow color of the silt-ridden water discharged from major rivers. The southern part of the Yellow Sea, including the entire west coast of Korea, contains a belt of intertidal mudflats. Those flats consist of highly productive sediments with a rich benthic fauna and are of great importance for migratory waders and shorebirds.
