I See Icy Blooms off Iceland

[20-May-25] A break in the clouds reveals wisps and swirls of high primary productivity off the southern coast of Iceland. Green, aqua, and light blue colors indicate high concentrations of microscopic algae known as phytoplankton, which bloom in the spring when more sunlight becomes available. This image was taken by the Ocean Color Instrument (OCI) sensor aboard the PACE satellite on May 20, 2025.
