The Absheron Penisula is located in the country of Azerbaijan. The peninsula extends 60 km (37 mi) eastward into the Caspian Sea, and reaches a maximum width of 30 km (19 mi). This Landsat 8 image was collected on August 22, 2022.
The peninsula is home to Absheron National Park, home to gazelles, Caspian seals, and a diversity of water birds. It is also the location of Baku, Azerbaijan's biggest and the most populous city.
