AGENDA:

  • PACE Mission & Applications Updates, Morgaine McKibben (NASA GSFC/SSAI)
  • PACE PAX Field Campaign Data & Polarimetry Overview, Kirk Knobelspiesse (NASA GSFC)
  • FastMAPOL Polarimetry Data Products, with applications to ocean color & demonstration, Meng Gao (NASA GSFC/SSAI)

Summary: The PACE mission continues to roll out novel data products that are advancing Earth System science and applications. This will be the first of two consecutive Community Telecons spotlighting several new polarimetry products that have recently become available. In our next Community Telecon, we will hear from Kirk Knobelspiesse (NASA GSFC) on the extensive PACE PAX field campaign datasets now available, including where to access them. He’ll also present an overview of the PACE polarimeters, current and newly available polarimetry products, and what products and applications potential are ahead. Then Meng Gao (NASA GSFC/SSAI) will present on the FastMAPOL data suite, a set of products derived from an efficient multi-angle polarimetric algorithm for simultaneous aerosol and ocean color retrievals powered by deep learning. He’ll discuss the newly available FastMAPOL aerosol and ocean color products from the HARP2 and SPEXone polarimeters, including an overview of the FastMAPOL algorithm and applications of data products. He will end with a Jupyter Notebook-based demonstration on how to access and use the data.
